In a compensation cycle, key stakeholders can be assigned various roles. Below is an overview of each role, and the key responsibilities of each role within a compensation cycle:
Template Owner
The template owner is the creator of a compensation template. More than one template owner can be assigned in the basic settings when creating a new template. Template owners can edit the template and will be the pre-defined owner of any cycles created using the template, however, this can be edited later on when the cycle is created. The template owner can edit and delete the templates that they are the owner of.
Cycle Owner
The cycle owner can be assigned when creating a new compensation cycle using a template. If no cycle owner is assigned, the template owner will automatically fulfill this role. The cycle owner can view, edit and delete the cycles that they own, manually change the status of the cycles, add or remove participants and change the person assigned as the proposer role.
Proposer (Manager by default)
By default, the direct manager of an employee will create the proposal and submit it to the selected approver. A manager with the proposer role can access the proposal dashboard, see an overview of recommendations, and can submit proposals for their direct reports. A proposer will also be asked to sign off an approved proposal for their direct reports after a discussion has taken place. If the respective setting is enabled, the manager/proposer can also reopen a proposal.
The super-admin, module admin and cycle owner, can manually change the employee's proposer in an active cycle, in case the direct manager (by default assigned as the proposer) is unavailable.
Approver
If assigned as an approver, you will be notified to approve proposals in the respective cycle. The approver can access the proposal dashboard and approve proposals either in bulk or individually. Approvers can also write private or public notes in the proposal; public notes are visible to all users that have access to the proposal. It is possible to send a note to all users that have access to the proposal except for the proposer.
One or multiple approvers can be added per cycle. In some cases, a user can be both proposer in a cycle and the approver of a cycle.
