If you want to include clients, external consultants, or freelancers in a 360° review, you can nominate them as a peer in a review cycle without adding them as a user in Leapsome. This allows people not part of your organization to give feedback as a peer on the competencies or questions in an assessment without needing to log into Leapsome. All external peers in a Review cycle can be added free of charge.
If this is a frequently recurring practice, following the steps in this article may better suit your review needs in the long term.
How to add external peers
The setup of a review cycle template remains the same, with one additional step in the ‘Scope’ settings. An admin or template owner can select the option to ‘Allow external collaborators as peers’ to allow assessment invitations to be sent to an external email address.
Please note: updating this setting in a template will only affect future cycles that use this template.
During the peer selection process, the reviewee or manager can add an external peer by entering their email address, and Leapsome will recognize them as an external collaborator. They can be added alongside internal peers. Depending on the cycle settings, a manager may need to approve the peers before anyone is notified to fill in an assessment.
Please note: the email domain of the external peer must be different to the domain of the company.
What will the external peer receive?
A Leapsome notification will reach the inbox of the nominated external peer with information on who is being assessed and a link to access the review. By clicking ‘Write now’ the external peer will be prompted to enter their name and accept the privacy policy before they begin to write the assessment.
External peers will then be able to complete the review just like an internal peer, assessing the competencies and questions included in the cycle.
Once the review is completed, it will be included as part of the assessment alongside other peer reviews, the manager assessment and the self-assessment.
Please note: If the external peer was removed from the peers, or the cycle was completed before they submitted their assessment, then the link to complete the assessment would expire and no longer allow submissions.
