A Competency Framework can be edited / updated / deleted by an admin at any time. Any change in existing competencies will affect past, active and future reviews. Adding or removing competencies will only affect future reviews. Read more here for how to set up your competency framework.
What happens to competencies in past cycles if the Competency Framework is updated and competencies are removed?
If competencies are removed from the Competency Framework but are used in past cycles, the data of those competencies will remain in the past cycles, but they will not be shown as competencies in future review cycles.
If you are currently running a review and change team / level assignments for participants, you will have to update the competencies based on current team & level assignments within the active cycle. You will find this setting by opening the review cycle and navigating to 'Questions'. If you scroll down, you will see a button 'Update competency assignments based on current teams & roles'.
Updating competency assignments in a running review can impact the user experience. Deleted competencies (and their answers) will no longer be shown in questionnaires, whether completed or not. All questionnaires will be updated based on current team memberships and company competencies.
Please note: By clicking this button, you cannot go back, and it will update all competencies according to the levels and teams you currently have.
How can I delete competencies in Leapsome?
Any admin/super-admin has the option to archive competencies in Leapsome by going to 'Your Company' > 'Competencies' > hovering your mouse over the competency you want to archive > clicking on 'Archive'.
Please note that archived competencies cannot be unarchived. Archiving a competency effectively works like deletion, meaning it disappears from the system and cannot be recovered.
If you'd like to archive more than one competency, you can complete this bulk action by going to 'Your Company' > 'Competencies' > clicking on the relevant checkbox beside each competency > clicking on the 'Archive' option at the top.
