As a manager, you have the option to create goals for your direct (and indirect) reports. Visit the Goal module and click ‘Actions' > ‘Create a new goal'. There are two different goals that you can create:
- Development goals are objectives you set to improve your personal skills and competencies.
- Performance goals are objectives set for specific tasks in your current job position that are usually related to the overall company goals or specific team goals.
You can the name of the goal and describe what you want to accomplish.
Owner and Visibility
You can expand and edit some further details to the goal, including goal tags, a cycle it may be part of, an optional description, and a badge. To define who is ultimately responsible for the goal, define an owner. To assign the goal to one of your direct/indirect reports, please select the option ‘Individual goal’ in the drop-down menu. The fields below will now ask you for the name of the person who owns and who manages the goal. As 'owner', you could select one of your direct / indirect reports, and under 'managed by', you could choose the manager of the direct report.
You can also add contributors to the goal. Contributors can always see and update the goal. They can also leave feedback / comments on the goal. You can add as many contributors as you want in the ‘contributors’ field. Contributors can be other users or entire teams - simply type the name into the relevant field.
Similarly, you can manage the visibility of the goal. You can limit the visibility to the owner, manager, and contributors of your goal or extend visibility to the entire company.
You can find more information on how to create goals or OKRs here.
