When setting up a goal you can choose to assign it to an individual, a team or the entire company. Each of those settings comes with a range of access and editing options. This article summarizes who is allowed to create, update, archive and delete goals.
Personal goals
Can be created...
- ... by anyone for themselves (i.e. unmanaged)
- ... by anyone for themselves but as a managed goal that needs to be approved by the manager
- ... by managers for their direct reports
- ... by (super-)admins for anyone else
Can be updated...
- ... by the owner (for managed goals all updates need to be approved by the manager)
- ... by the manager
- ... by super admins
- ... by contributors
- Custom: If normal admins have access to all personal goals they can update these (see 'Admin Settings' > 'Goals and OKRs')
Can be deleted or archived:
- Personal, managed goals can only be archived or deleted by the manager, admins, or super admins
- Other personal goals can also be archived by the owner (i.e. the user who set up the goal)
- Personal goals can also get archived automatically when they have been part of a goal cycle
Team goals
Can be created...
- ... by (super) admins
- ... by team leads for their team (to set up team leads navigate to 'Users & Teams' > 'Edit' underneath a user's name)
- Custom setting: ... by any team member (see 'Admin settings' > 'Goals and OKRs')
Can be updated...
- ... by (super) admins
- ... by team leads
- ... by contributors
- Custom setting: ... by any team member (see 'Admin settings' > 'Goals and OKRs')
Can be deleted or archived...
- ... by (super) admins
- ... by the owner of the goal
- ... automatically when part of a goal cycle
Company goals
- Can be created by (super) admins
- Can be updated by (super) admins or contributors
- Can be deleted or archived by (super) admins
Bulk archiving on any level can only be done by super admins.
