## Progress of a single goal/objective

You can either work with key results or use a simple percentage metric for your goal. If **key results are defined**, the overall progress of all key results will define the goal's overall progress. Please note that an **initiative's** progress **do only** influence a key result's or an objective's progress if "Enable dynamic progress calculation" is set up on the key result level.

You can use **weights** to define the importance of specific key results: If no weights are defined, all key results will be treated equally. If you assign weights to all key results, the overall progress calculation will consider the respective weight of each key result.

## Key results calculation

The percentage increase of Key results are calculated with the following formula:

Therefore, if the final value is the same as the target value, then the percentage of the key results would result in 100%. For example: (280-203)/(280-203)*100=100%

## Dynamic progress calculation on goal level

During goal creation, you can enable the option of dynamic goal calculation. That means any update of a child goal (lower-level goal) updates the progress of the parent goal (higher-level goal) accordingly.

*Example*: You have created a parent goal with two linked child goals. You change one child's goal to 50% progress. The parent goal's progress will be updated to 25%.

Important: Dynamic progress calculation can only be enabled if you have **no key results** defined.

## Dynamic progress calculation on key result level

During key result creation, you can enable the option of dynamic progress calculation. This would mean that the key result progress will automatically be calculated based on the progress of the initiatives below.

## Overall progress

Our system takes into account all active goals (not drafts or archived goals) for the overall progress calculation of a person/a team. When calculating overall progress, the system averages the progress of individual goals (see above) to calculate overall progress.

When you are looking at a filtered view of all goals (i.e., your personal goals, or your team goals) the progress shown will reflect the average progress for those filtered goals (i.e., it will not take into account the progress of any other goals).
