Career growth and personal development relies on quality feedback, but can be enhanced with comprehensive and actionable integrated learning tools. The learning module gives you a tool to store a tailored catalogue of learning elements. Learning paths provide structure to learning elements and allow for granular targeting and guided learning progress.
Currently, only admins can access and manage learning paths through the "Learning Paths" section in the learning module.
Create a learning path:
Admins can create as many learning paths as they need for their employees. Simply navigate to the learning module, go to "Learning Paths" and click on "Create". Creating and editing of learning paths follows the same flow:
This first page presents the basic information of a learning path:
- Name: name of the learning path
- Description (optional): a description of the learning path
The next page displays the different steps of the learning path, these are the core of the learning path. Steps are built on learning elements and can be added by searching through the list of existing learning elements or by creating a new learning element on the fly (please see the flow in the Learning Elements guide).
Further flexibility is provided by additional options when setting up the learning path:
- Optional: by marking a step as "optional", you'll allow employees to skip the step and continue with the next step(s) in the path.
- Duration (Deadlines): you can define a duration for each step. The number of days that you add here serves as a "soft" deadline for the users, who will receive a reminder if a step is overdue. If a user misses a deadline they will be notified but will still be able to complete the step.
Don't forget to click on the "Save & Continue" button to save any changes to the steps.
As a last step, define who to target with your learning path: a path can be targeted to either all employees or to any combination of teams and individuals. Paths can be automatically targeted to users based on their hire date or at a specific point in time.
Finally, you can activate (and later disable) the path on the status screen. Similarly to learning elements, changes to a learning path that one or more users are enrolled in won't be reflected for those users but only for all newly enrolled users. New users for the path will see the latest version, already enrolled users will see the version that was active when they were enrolled.
